


PROFILE
Dr. George Marangoly was born on 8 October 1947, in Thalayolaparambu(home town of Vaikom Muhammed Basheer), Kottayam Dist, Kerala, India. He was the eldest son of late Varkey Marangoly and Katharine.
He did his schooling at the Govt. High School Thalayolaparambu and his Pre-University at St. Thomas College, Palai, before graduating in Political Science from the University of Delhi. He also served in the Indian Air Force until 1972.
In 1974 he migrated to the USA and lived there for more than three decades. Dr. George Marangoly is the founder-editor-publisher of PRABHATHAM (1979) - the first Malayalam newspaper in America!
He is the author of eleven books in Malayalam and one book in English. He has also published numerous articles and stories in periodicals in India, USA, UK, Australia, Middle East and Japan. He won the FOKANA (Federation of Kerala Associations in North America) Award thrice, FOMAA (Federation of Malayalee Associations in the Americas) Award, and MAM (Malayalee Association of Maryland) Award for his contributions to the Malayalam literary field.
Having completed his Masters Degree in Library and Information Science and Ph.D.
in Business administration from the United States, George Marangoly undertook various
administrative positions with the US Government in the United States and also overseas.
His wife Mariamma (Valsa) is an Advocate in Kerala High Court, Ernakulam
